Britney Cooper will replace the injured Kycia Knight in the West Indies Women’s squad for the third and final ODI against Australia, Cricket West Indies announced on Wednesday (September 10).
Knight was stretchered off in the first ODI – which West Indies lost by 178 runs – after injuring her lower back in Coolidge. She didn’t come out to bat and subsequently was ruled out of the second ODI that West Indies lost by 151 runs. On examination of scans on her back, the medical team ruled her out of the remainder of the series.
Cooper wasn’t part of the initial squad given her string of single-digit scores against England earlier in June. But the injury to Knight had her called in, and she joined the team on Monday for the final ODI on Wednesday in Antigua, after which, the hosts will take on Australia in a three-match T20I series starting from 14 September in Barbados.
